Site management at Nimba recently welcomed senior technical mining representatives from the Guinean Ministry of Mines and Geology along with a team of international consultants for a pre-construction technical site workshop.

The technical workshop provided an opportunity for the 12 attendees to review the detailed development plans for Nimba, confirm the timeline for construction and consider the environmental and social studies that are currently being completed in advance of commencement of construction.

The Ministry of Mines and Geology were represented by Messrs Soumah Mamadouba, Technical Adviser to the Minister of Mines and Joseph Siba Dopavogui, National Director of Geology.  They were joined by a team of international consultants from multiple disciplines, including mine resource planning, pit development, road and rail logistics, marketing, plus contracts and procurement.  The group also toured the proposed central industrial processing hub, where the ultra-high grade material will be prepared for shipment to green steel customers internationally.  Development plans for Nimba remain on track with a proposed commencement of mining scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2025.

Guinea’s Acting Directeur General Mr Oumar Sylla commented:

“We were pleased to have the opportunity bring together representatives from the Guinean Ministry of Mines and Geology with our team of international consultants advising on our development plans for Nimba.”

“The commencement of construction at Nimba, proposed for the first quarter of 2025, represents a significant investment in Guinea by HPX and will create a number of new, long-term jobs, improved infrastructure and economic growth. We look forward to working with the Guinea Government and local stakeholders to bring this vision to life.”

HPX is currently finalising its development plans and timeline for the Nimba project to make its Final Investment Decision in Q1, 2025.
